Optical memory disks in optical information processing.
We describe the use of optical memory disks as elements in optical information processing architectures. The optical disk is an optical memory device with a storage capacity approaching 10(10) bits which is naturally suited to parallel access. We discuss optical disk characteristics which are important in optical computing systems such as contrast, diffraction efficiency, and phase uniformity. ...
متن کاملDiscrete correlators using multiple imaging for digital optical computing.
New optical discrete correlators based on multiple-imaging systems with a simple structure and good stability are proposed. The systems are composed of lenses for image duplication and optical shutters for kernel specification. As a result, large throughput can be attained with an incoherent configuration. The throughput of the system is estimated, and several logic operations are demonstrated ...
متن کاملUsing Fourier/Mellin-based correlators and their fractional versions in navigational tasks
The navigational tasks of computing time to impact and controlling movements in speci1c range are addressed here. We show how time to impact can be obtained via the Mellin-based correlator, and we introduce the concept of fractional based correlators. The fractional Fourier=Mellin based correlators can be used in detecting or controlling speci1c range of movements. Also, both the conventional a...
متن کاملPhase Change Memory: Rewritable Optical Disks and Electronic non-volatile memories
Phase change memory of atomic order (Crystalline)-disorder(Amorphous) phase change phenomena was found by S. R. Ovshinsky(Energy Conversion Devices, Inc.) called “Ovonic Memory. GeSbTe and AgInSbTe material systems are used in commercial optical disks, and GeSbTe is commonly used in semiconductor memories. Million overwrite phase change technology enabled rewritable DVD (Digital versatile disk)...
متن کاملA VLSI Implementation for Synthetic Aperture Radar Image Processing
A simple physical model for the Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) is presented. This model explains the one dimensional and two dimensional nature of the received SAR signal in the range and azimuth directions. A time domain correlator, its algorithm and features are explained. The correlator is ideally suited for VLSI implementation. A real time SAR architecture using these correlators is propose...
